And So the Competition Begins ...
Saturday is start of the national finals of the America's Homecoming Queen competition … check back every day to relive the experience with me (:
Summer has flown by without any hesitation. It might be fact that as one gets older, time flies with more speed. Or simply that I've had more going on this summer than any before. I've spent the last couple of months working on final preparations for my competition, and the last couple of days packing. The hours continue to tick down … 14 in counting. Fourteen hours until we set off on our voyage. We'll be heading to the airport, and after a short layover in Chicago, we'll be on our way to Anaheim, CA. Then begins day one of the 2011 America's Homecoming Queen national finals. Wow … tomorrow is going to be a long day. The next few days will be as well.
Here's my schedule of events:
SATURDAY: Reception for Queens

SUNDAY: 5:30 am (I'm not a morning person) Breakfast, Family day in Disneyland (!!!), then a 7 p.m. state souvenir exchange (I hope Wisconsin doesn't bring cheese. …)
MONDAY: Interviews with the judges, speeches, community service video presentation (click here to watch it or on the video with this blog!), and a banquet in the evening.

TUESDAY: Rehearsal, rehearsal, rehearsal, evening-gown selection, and finals at 8 p.m.
WEDNESDAY: A day of R&R and a late night arrival back to Hartland.
I will be blogging about my experience throughout the next few days, (hopefully by the end of each night!) with the intention of my fellow Hartland residents living the experience with me. For were it not for the support of my community, I would not be able to embark on this once in a lifetime opportunity. My hopes? To come home with wonderful memories, and maybe a scholarship or two!
Online voting is still open through the Monday. Click here to vote. Remember, each vote is only $1, the donations go toward the scholarship fund, and brings me one vote closer to winning the America's "Favorite" Homecoming Queen portion of the competition.
My biggest concern at the time being is how I'm going to keep myself busy (and avoid anxious thoughts) during the agonizing five or so hours I'll be in flight. So, I've downloaded Sims 3 on my laptop. That'll do pig, that'll do. hehe!
Thank you for reading!
Talk to you soon<3
