Planes, Buses and a Wonderful Welcome

Proof that happy endings do happen. A frantic morning sails smoothly into the sunset.

ANAHEIM, CA — Finally, the conclusion of Day One. And with an earlier wake-up tomorrow (breakfast was moved to 5 a.m., as opposed to the original 5:30 a.m.), I'm more than ready to hit the hay.

Saturday has been full of surprises. When we reached our gate at the Detroit Metro Airport, we were informed that our flight was delayed until further notice due to flooding at the Chicago airport (our layover destination). After much confusion, quick decision-making, and spending six hours in the airport, we were reassigned to another airline that was a straight shot to LAX — in first class. (: Finally we had made it to California! But of course the fun didn't stop there. We were bombarded by bus and ticket confusion, a bit of icing on the cake.

Our arrival to our hotel came as a relief to my parents and me. I was immediately greeted by the smiling faces of homecoming queens from all around the country. We spent the evening exploring downtown Disney and attempting to remember each girl's name (and not just her state). The night was concluded by an intro ceremony, the distribution of our crowns and a small snack party in the hotel's suite.
