Crime Report: Items Stolen From Unlocked Cars

Reports of several vehicle break-ins occurred in Hartland Township last week, according to the Livingston County Sheriff's department. Several resident reported items stolen from their unlocked cars.

• On July 31, A Hartland man on the 1500 block of Chelsea Circle reported that a black safety eyeglass bag, estimated at $10, was stolen from his unlocked car parked in his driveway. The Hartland man told police that a surveillance camera from his neighbor’s house showed three male teenagers walking through the neighborhood and around his car around 2:40 a.m.

• On July 31, a Hartland man on the 8000 block of Glen View Drive reported that between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m., items were stolen out of his unlocked 2006 Mercury Mariner parked in his driveway. A laptop, estimated at $200, a Kenneth Cole laptop bag, estimated at $90, and a wallet, estimated at $50, containing credit cards and drivers license were stolen from the vehicle, according to the report.

• On July 31, a Hartland man on the 8000 block of Glen View Drive reported that between hours of 8 p.m. July 30 and 6:30 a.m. July 31, a Nikon camera, estimated at $150, was stolen from the passenger seat of his Dodge Ram. According to the report, the victim believes the car was left unlocked.

• On August 2, a Brighton woman on the 2000 block of Indian Sinks, reported that between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 5 a.m., items were stolen from her unlocked car. The woman told police that she accidently left her car unlocked after returning home from a concert. Around 5 a.m., the woman got back in her car to drop off a friend a noticed her glove box and center console was open. According to the report, items stolen included $50 in cash, a purse estimated at $15 along with a driver’s license and social security card.
