Kindergarten Roundup at Our Savior

Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran School will hold its Kindergarten Roundup on Friday, May 4 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. All interested upcoming Kindergarten students and their parents are invited and encouraged to attend this informational session and meet with teachers and the principal of Our Savior. Children in attendance will participate in a sunflower-themed activity with Kindergarten teacher Mary Ellen Combs.

The goal of the Kindergarten program is to create a Christ-centered, balanced academic curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and establishes a foundation that will build to first grade, according to Andrea Johnson, principal of Our Savior.

“Our half-day program is specifically structured for the 5 – 6 year old child,” said Johnson. “It acts as a stepping stone from preschool or home, and allows the child a chance to acclimate to a more demanding academic schedule.”

For parents and students interested in a full day at school, childcare and enrichment programs are also available.

The Kindergarten program at Our Savior includes instruction in reading and literacy, mathematics, social studies, science, religion, computers, and community awareness. Classes are kept small to sustain greater individualized instruction and a nurturing environment. Parents are encouraged to assist in classroom activities. The class convenes weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.
