Hartland Township hosts a large item drop off and community shred event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4 for township residents only at the south parking lot of .
Acceptable items include refrigerators/freezers ($20 for freon removal), large appliances, scrap metal, wood scraps, furniture, tires, mattresses, textiles, empty cardboard boxes, electronics, TVs, computer hardware (but no monitors), microwaves, toilets, sinks, plumbing fixtures and other bulky items.
Unacceptable items include hazardous waste, commercial or business waste, soil, dirt, concrete, asphalt, construction debris, regular household garbage, yard waste, furniture with lead paint and cars.

The shred event accepts two to three boxes of paper per household; all materials are recycled. Acceptable materials include: junk mail, bank statements, manila folders and credit card statements. Staples, paper clips, rubber bands can be left on the items. Magazines, newspapers, books, CDs, DVDs VHS tapes will not accepted.
