Police: 1-Year-Old Injured After Drunk Fenton Woman Crashes Vehicle

A 22-year-old female driver and her one-year old daughter were ejected from their car during a roll over crash on Friday night, according to a press release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s office. 

According to the report, police arrived on scene to find Teddyjo Fliam of Fenton and her daughter thrown from their 1997 Toyota Four Runner. 

Police say that Fliam’s one-year old daughter was thrown from the vehicle due to her not being properly restrained in her car seat. Fliam’s 4-year-old son, however, was still in the car when police arrived, due to his seat belt. 

Witnesses told police that Fliam ran a stop sign at Old U.S. 23 and then continued driving westbound on Center Road where she crossed the centerline. Fliam then swerved to avoid an oncoming car, according to the report, overcompensated and ran off the road where she lost control. Fliam’s car overturned after striking an embankment on the south side of the road

Results from a breath test taken on scene showed Fliam’s blood alcohol content to be .185, according to the sheriff’s department, which is slightly over two times the legal limit in Michigan of .08.

Fliam and her children were transported to University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor were they were listed in serious condition but expected to recover from their injuries, according to the report.

The Livingston County Sheriff Department will be forwarding the case to the Prosecutor’s Office for Operating While Intoxicated (Child Endangerment) along with child abuse and neglect.

Deputies were assisted on scene by the Livingston County EMS and Fenton Township Fire Department.
