Free "Spring" information session for fall college-bound students March 4; Baker College scholarships to be awarded

"Spring into College" event provides info about college funding, academic options and what should be done before the start of fall classes.

FLINT TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Prospective college students are invited to a free information session where they and their parents or guardians can learn about college funding, academic program options and what needs to be done before the start of college.

The "Spring into College" event is set for Saturday, March 4, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and hosted by Baker College’s Flint campus, though it is open to all prospective college students, whether or not they have identified Baker College as a college of choice. Check-in opens at 10:45 a.m. Door prizes include three $1,000 scholarships at Baker College of Flint.

Because lunch is provided, reservations are required no later than Wednesday, March 1.

“This is an opportunity for college-bound students to learn about many aspects of attending college from multiple sources in a short time,” said Wen Hemingway, Baker College of Flint president.

Attendees can take an assessment that matches them with 10 career choices based on their interests and personality. Faculty members will be available to provide information about academic programs, and current students will talk about what college is like from a student’s perspective.

Financial services advisors will review the various types of financial aid and help those who have not completed the Free Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA), which determines eligibility for annual student financial aid.
