Hartland Firefighter Has Chance to Sing for Detroit Tigers
Hartland firefighter Walter Johnston made it to the top ten in the Detroit Tigers "Home of the Brave" National Anthem contest.
Proving he can sing with the best of them, Hartland's own Walter Johnston has made it to the Top Ten in the Home of Brave National AnthemΒ contest sponsored by the Detroit Tigers and Comerica Bank.
Johnston, a firefighter forΒ theΒ Hartland-Deerfield Area Fire Department and a 2010 Hartland High School graduate, was also a runner-up in the 2012 Livingston County Singing Sensation competition.
Voting for the Top Ten Sung Heroes in theΒ Home of theΒ Brave National Anthem Singing ContestΒ will be open untilΒ Sept. 14Β when oneΒ lucky hometown hero will be offered the opportunity to sing the National Anthem theΒ Detroit Tigers game on Sept. 22.
The winner will announced on Sept. 16 and willΒ also receiveΒ 40 tickets to the game and a $10,000 grant to the winnerβs police or fire station, according to a press release from Comerica.Β
