Hartland High School Grad Named Alumni Scholar at Michigan State University
Michaelyn Lux of Brighton awarded full-ride scholarship.

Recent Hartland High School graduate Michaelyn Lux of Brighton has earned a full-ride scholarship to Michigan State University that's valued at $100,000, the school announced Wednesday.
Named as one of 23 of the newest Alumni Distinguished Scholars, the scholarship covers full tuition, room and board, books and a stipend for up to eight semesters of study, according to a news release. Other receipients of the award — considered the school's most competitive scholarship — are from across the country and Nigeria.
The news is not a surprise for Lux, who already earned attention for the award in a June 12 story by the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus.

She was the only student from the Class of 2011 in Livingston County to score a 36 on her ACT and she ranked first among 480 graduating seniors, according to the story. Lux, who plans a career in chemistry, also visited Harvard University, Yale University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, but decided on MSU.
"Looking at the stats between the schools, the best visit I had was Michigan State," Lux told the paper.
