More than 20 couples took the commons floor at on Friday to compete in a swing dance contest.
The event — which was part the third and final community swing dance of the year that was hosted by school's music program — offered three age divisions: adult (18 and older), senior youth (grades 9-12) and a junior youth (grades 8 and younger). Each division had at least five couples competing with 11 squaring off in senior youth. Winners included:
- Max Cothran and Mattison Degue in the junior youth division.
- Joshua Whitson and Sarah Matthews in the senior youth division.
- Lance Cican and Leslie Davenport in the adult division.
Seven high school jazz bands, including a dixieland band, performed Friday. In addition, the Ambassadors, a group of professional musicians led by Hartland High School band director Michael Letovsky, played.

The high school band boosters supported the event with refreshments, handling the tickets, the decorations, set up and clean up and the prizes for the dance competition.
