Two Hartland Insurance Scarecrows Partner Up for 'Scare Dancing'

The employees of Hartland Insurance are quick to give credit of the creative theme of square dancing or in this case "scare dancing" to receptionist Darlene Hatley, who admits that her brainchild took several days to come up with.

“I took a long time to think about it,” Darlene Hatley said. “And then it just dawned on me one day to be square dancing because they square danced at the hall.”

Once Hatley’s idea was approved by her co-workers, she went on a scavenger hunt for the items and constructed the two dancing partners placed out front next to the Hartland Insurance sign. As for her co-workers, Hatley says they love the theme and finished product.

Votes must be received by Friday, Sept. 16. Winners will be announced around noon at the chamber Saturday, Sept. 17, on heritage day. Vote categories are: most interesting, most historic or most colorful.
