After heading to a national junior forensics tournament over the summer, 14-year-old looks to continue success at the high school level.

Accomplishments: This summer, Kendra competed in the National Junior Forensics League Tournament in Dallas for , finishing 15th in Lincoln-Douglas debate category and 16th in extemporaneous speaking. This Saturday, the Oceola Township resident is headed to Anchor Bay for her first high school tournament. In high school, Kendra plans to compete in extemporaneous speaking, prose and possibly dramatic interpretation. Kendra also volunteers her time as a student coach for the middle school and Farms forensic clubs. Her brother Devin plans to start in forensics this year at Farms.
Kendra's thoughts on forensics: "The best thing about forensics is the team atmosphere and how friendly and helpful everyone is; whether you are practicing at home or competing nationally," she said in response to an email from Hartland Patch. "I have learned so much over the last year and look forward to competing this year. My goals for the next tournament and in 2012 are to become better at making stronger points in my extemp speeches and weaning myself off note cards. I know these two steps will take me to the next level of competition. Regarding prose and dramatic interpretation: I love trying new things and by attempting these two options I will see what I can really do."
