Hartland High School's varsity boys baseball and girls softball teams each triumphed Friday over Lakeland on Friday to remain undefeated on the young season.
The boys won 4-1 in extra innings while the girls rolled to an 11-3 victory. Both squads are now 5-0.
In baseball, Eagles pitcher Anthony Villar got the victory for Hartland. The game was a pitcher's duel for the first seven innings. Both teams threatened a number of times, but solid defense kept the scored tie at 1-1. Hartland scored three runs in the top of the ninth for the victory.

In softball, Hartland's Abbie Minkser pitched a strong game for the Eagles on a windy day that felt more like a late fall afternoon.
The baseball team is next scheduled to play 10 a.m. Saturday in the Adrian Maples Invitational at Adrian High School while the softball squad heads to Lake Fenton for a doubleheader that begins 4 p.m. Monday.
