Hartland Township to Flush Fire Hydrants This Week

Residents can expect to see rusty/discolored water during the times that hydrants are being flushed in their area.

Hartland Township will be doing hydrant flushing starting today and ending Oct. 27.

All hydrants on the township water system are flushed twice a year to flush out any rust that may have accumulated in the water mains. Residents may expect to see rusty/discolored water during the times that hydrants are being flushed in their area. Residents can run cold water for 10-15 minutes or until the water runs clear. It is recommended that the residents do not do laundry when the flushing is occurring in their area.

If residents notice a sustained decrease in pressure or are unable to flush out the discoloration, they should contact the system operator at (810) 632-9405 or the Township Public Works Director at (810) 632-7498 ext. 262.
