WHMI reports animal shelter director seeking public's assistance.
More than 60 animals now are available for adoption and the director Livingston County Animal Control says she hope the public can help, according a report on WHMI (93.5 FM).
"We're extremely full at the moment," Debbie Oberle told the radio station in a Sunday report. "We have three of the dogs and two are in a kennel together and one is out in foster care. We have the rabbits and the guinea pig and we kind of have them stashed everywhere."
Most of the animals — which included 10 horses, 40 cats, three dogs and two guinea pigs — can be found on the animal control website, she told the station. The Michigan Horse Coalition are caring for the horses, the report said.

The animals were seized in an Aug. 19 raid at a Deerfield Township woman's property after authorities received complaints about the conditions.

But so far there hasn't been any legal action taken against the woman, 64, according to an Aug. 24 article in the Livingston Daily Press & Argus.
Livingston County Prosecutor David Morse told the newspaper charges may be filed to force the woman to seek help if results shows competency issues. But otherwise, he said, this is a case where the goal is to avoid additional problems and getting the woman help instead of punishment.
