Latest Link: Hartland Principal's Husband in Trouble Over Graduation Party

Police continue to investigate underage drinking incident at the home of Creekside administrator, newspaper reports.

Police in Genesee County are accusing the husband of Creekside Elementary School's principal of allowing underage drinking at a graduation party, according to a newspaper report published Friday.

Argentine Township police also are still trying to find out whether Creekside Principal Tracey Sahouri, who has not been cited for a ticket, knew about the drinking or was at the party, the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus reported.

She did not comment to the newspaper.

Sahouri's husband, Raed, faces a misdemeanor ticket after admitting he was aware that minors who were at his child's graduation party Saturday had been drinking, the article said.

But Raed Sahouri also told the newpaper he didn't provide alcohol and he called 911 not long after discovering the underage drinking at about midnight, including a highly intoxicated 16-year-old Linden girl who required medical assistance. Her condition as of Thursday was not known, the paper reported.

The Hartland School District investigated Tracey Sahouri's role in the incident, the article said.

Scott VanEpps, Hartland's assistant superintendent of personnel, told the paper the district found no wrongdoing on Tracey Sahouri's part, although he was unaware of the police report.

Violating the party host law is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail and/or $1,000 fine.

Efforts to curtail underage drinking during prom and graduation season have been a countywide priority by a coalition of nonprofits, school officials, including some from Hartland, and law enforcement through the "Parents Who Host the Most Lose the Most" campaign. The group's most recent campaign .

At the event, Prosecutor David Morse said there are about 10 prosecutions for "party hosting" violations a year in Livingston County, although there are more cases that don't move forward because of lack of evidence.

Not long after a group called the Hartland Coalition to discuss ways residents can work together to address substance abuse issues, including underage drinking.
