Latest Links: Woman Dies After Vehicle Hits Tree in Hartland
Segment of Crouse Road is expected to remain closed for several hours.

A 40-year-old Hartland woman died Tuesday after her vehicle struck a tree on Crouse Road near Cullen Road in Hartland, according to media reports.
Police say it appears Melanie Beneson lost control of her Jeep after traveling too fast for the snowy conditions on the gravel roadway, according to the Livingston County Daily Press and Argus. Her vehicle wrapped aroung a tree along the north side of the road just east of Cullen, the newspaper reported.
Beneson, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was alone in the vehicle when the crash occurred sometime around 1 p.m. and not wearing her seatbelt, according to WHMI-FM (93.5).

She was an employee of the , the Press & Argus reported, and on her way home to let her dogs out.
Both the Livingston County Sheriff's Department and the Hartland Deerfield Fire Authority responded to the scene and are expected to on scene for the next couple of hours, both outlets reported. Crouse was closed during the investigation.
