Library in Hartland Receives $16K Grant From PNC Foundation For Literacy
Four new computer stations will allow children to work independently.
is planning to create an Early Literacy Center by September thanks to a grant of more than $16,000 from the PNC Foundation, the library announced Tuesday.
The center — which will be at the youth department at the library's main branch — will feature four AWE Learning Stations that allow children to work independently on computers, a news release said.
Interactive programs include pre-reading, math, phonics and children's book such as Green Eggs and Ham. The computers are a "dramatic improvement" over the current stations that feature colored keyboards and large screens, the release said.
