New Census Data Helps Define the Hartland Home
Over the past 10 years, slide from home ownership mirrors county, national trends.

What defines a home?
City-specific household and family data released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau take a peek inside the typical home in Hartland, as well as across Livingston County and the state.
Most of the data is not surprising: over the past 10 years, across the county, the number of homeowners fell as the number of renters increased. Additionally, the number of traditional families across the county decreased while the number of nonfamilies increased. (The Census defines nonfamilies as people living alone and households that don't have any members related to the householder).
