Police Briefs: Boom Lift Reported Stolen From Construction Site

Two men arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at Walmart.

A boom lift was reported stolen from a construction site behind in Hartland, according to the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.

The boom lift, which is worth $10,000, disappeared sometime between April 27 and May 10, a police report said.

Two men arrested on retail fraud charges at Walmart

Two men were arrested after police said they stole nearly $250 in video games and trading cards from the in Hartland on May 15.

Police, who responded at about 8 p.m., searched the suspects and found a Play Station 3 game, an X-Box game and YGO game cards after Walmart security had detained them, according to a Livingston County Sheriff's Department report.

The store's anti-fraud employee said he stopped the suspects after watching them conceal packages of trading cards in their pants, the report said.

Riding lawn mower reported stolen

A 30-year-old Tyrone Township woman reported her family's riding lawn mower was stolen from their backyard of their home in the 10300 block of Nimphie.

The woman's husband left it in the yard on May 12 after it ran out of fuel, according to a Livingston County Sheriff's Department report. She discovered the mower missing the next day. It is worth $1,600, the report said.

Vacant home on Dunham Road broken into

Real estate agents reported a vacant home in the 11600 block of Dunham Road was broken into for the second time this year, according to the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.

They told police the incident occurred between 5 p.m. May 11 and 9:45 a.m. May 13, a police report said. A door with a deadbolt was forced open. Nothing was reported taken.

Copper from the home was reported stolen in March during the prior break-in, the report said. The home is owned by Fannie Mae.

Woman reports identify theft for second time

A 61-year-old Hartland woman has reported to police for the second time this year that her identity has been stolen.

The woman filed a similar complaint in February and since that time she says transactions are made in places such as Hawaii and overseas on her bank accounts and continued despite changing accounts, a Livingston County Sheriff's Department report said. The current complaint was filed May 10, the report said.

The woman says a recent credit report erroneously shows she lives in Oxford and a bank reported to her three checks written in her name it did not pay, according to the report. The woman has put out a fraud alert to a credit reporting agency, the report said.

The investigation remains open, the report said.
