Police Briefs: Deputies Nab Suspected Cell Phone Thief

A 41-year-old Howell man was arrested on the suspicion of stealing seven cell phones from the and in Hartland, according to the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.
Police were called just after midnight Tuesday after Meijer security said the man was leaving the store with cell phones and that the man had stolen from the store before, a police report said.
The man also would target the Meijer store in Brighton after hitting the two Hartland stores, the report said.

Deputies arrested the man in the parking lot and they found four cell phones worth $400 in total from Meijer and three cell phones worth $240 in total from Walmart, the report said.
He was taken to the Livingston County Jail, the report said.

Suspect uses trimmers to steal video games
A male from Pontiac, who was arrested on the suspicion of retail fraud at , used shrub trimmers to steal nearly $230 in Play Station 3 products, according the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.
The male was stopped at about 4:30 p.m. May 25 by the store security who later to police he took the items in order to help pay for his heroin addiction, a police report said.
The suspect was released but could face possible charges as police forwarded the case to the Livingston County Prosecutor's office for review, the report said.
