1o months ago, on August 2nd 2013, Abby Fountaine’s parents, Dougie and Tammy, heard the worst news a parent can hear; “Your child has cancer”. Now, 1o months later, they have finally heard, “Your child is cancer free and in remission.” The Fountaine’s are so thankful for the support from their community, customers, family and friends and know they could not of made it where they are today without the exceptional team of Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Mott’s U of M.
Abby’s MRI showed no evidence of disease recurrence, however, her counts are still not recovered, which Abby is bummed about, because that means no lakes! She will still go monthly to have a breathing treatment and have her port flushed. Abby will have a CT & MRI at the end of August, and if she is still cancer free they will remove her port.
As the hospital is not currently their second home, The Fountaine’s were able to relax and enjoy time together as a family, at Disney! Make a Wish provided them with a trip to Disney, and Abby loved every minute! She even got to dress up as a princess! Abby and her family also had a surprise Horsey House Call from Camp Casey, a nonprofit organization out of Royal Oak that provides horseback riding programs for children with cancer and their families!
