Front Door of Salvation Army Thrift Store Found Smashed With Rock on Thanksgiving
A captain for the Livingston County chapter of the charity calls the vandalism at holiday time 'disgusting.'

The front door of Livingston County's Salvation Army Thrift Store was discovered smashed with a rock on Thanksgiving morning, according to the Livingston County Sheriff's Department.
Nothing was reported stolen, although four cash registers were found open slightly, according to a police report. A rock was found about 10 feet inside with glass strewn inside and outside the store, 7000 W Grand River Ave, in Genoa Township, the report said.
Police said the vandalism occurred between 9 p.m. Wednesday and about 9:50 a.m. Thursday, according a 74-year-old Genoa Township man who lives in the area and called 911 after he saw the door damaged.

A Detroit-area spokesman for charity's thrift stores did not return a call from Hartland Patch on Tuesday seeking comment.
Capt. Jenny Ortman, who co-runs the Salvation Army of Livingston County but is not in charge of the store, said the vandalism is disheartening to the charity, adding she's concerned that the organization was targeted. Ortman said said after learning about it, the charity's Howell center was checked but nothing had happened.
"The idea they would do that on Thanksgiving is extra disgusting," she said.
