Skier's Accomplishment a First for Hartland
Colin David achieves individual feat; he and the girls team competed in state finals last week.
When senior and co-captain Colin David qualified for the state finals in both slalom and giant slalom at regionals, he blazed a new trail for Hartland High School by becoming the first ever to do so, according to a parent on the team.
"Slalom has lots of quick, tight turns while giant slalom is a much faster, wide open course," said Doni Dilworth, whose daughter Rihanna is on the girls team, which qualfied for the first time in at least 14 years according to coach Glenn Makin.
"Colin needed to beat out approximately 75 other skiers in each discipline to make the top 10 and thus qualify for state, which takes quite a bit of versatility and focus to accomplish," Dilworth said in an e-mail to Hartland Patch.
