Archery Hits the Mark in Weekend Tournament
Hartland High School finished in the Top 10 as a team and had 15 archers in the Top 100.

The Hartland Archery Teams traveled to Louisville, KY this past weekend to attend the tenth Annual National Archery in the Schools Program’s National Tournament.
There were over 8000 archers who represented over 456 schools at this years event.

The Guinness Book of World Records was there to verify this as the new record for the largest Archery Tournament in World History. So, all of the Hartland Archers are now “part of” the Guinness Book of World Records.

Hartland Elementary finished in 25th place and 5 in the Top 100!!
- Sawyer Bulloch finished in 22nd place in his division and 13th in his grade level
- Derrick Loruss finished in 62nd in his grade level
- Collin Pajot finished in 72nd in his grade level
- Olivia Tasich finished in 78th in her grade level
- Dominick VanEss finished in 82nd in his grade level
Hartland Middle School finished in 23rd place and 6 in the Top 100!!
- Betty Jellison finished 23rd in her grade level
- Jake Kantola finished 39th in his grade level
- Harper Peters finished 48th in her grade level
- Brandon Thomas finished 55th in his grade level
- Nicole Tschirret finished 76th in her grade level
- Devin Doyle finished 84th in his grade level
THE BIG NEWS!!
Hartland High School finished in the TOP 10 as a TEAM and had 15 in the Top 100.
They placed 9th and this is the highest rank ever reached by a MI team at Nationals. (St. Mary’s from Gaylord held the record at 12th place prior to this year.)
Hartland High was only 25 points out of 3 place, 35 points out of second place and only 60 points out of first place! (If they had shot the same score we shot at the State Tournament they would have tied for second place!! – So close!)
Hartland placed ahead of St. Mary’s from Gaylord at Nationals and has now beaten them three events in a row. They finished in 28th place. This is a team we had not been able to beat for three years prior to last year’s National Event.
Chris Bee was awarded a spot on the first ever “All-American National Team” by shooting a 296 out of 300 finishing in 7th place in the HS division and 5th place in his grade.
- Emily Bee finished 9th in the division and 6th in her grade
- Tyler Kesterson finished 93rd in the division and 19th in his grade
- Jacob Popp finished 73rd in the division and 25th in his grade
- David Salerno finished 81st in the division and 21st in his grade
- Nicolette Sexton finished 32nd in her grade
- Shelby Simonds finished 34th in her grade
- Kari Kantola finished 36th in her grade
- Kara Micallef finished 47th in her grade
- Katey Machala finished 49th in her grade
- Sarah Portelli finished 49th in her grade
- Gabrielle Griffith finished 70th in her grade
- Mitchell Smith finished 80th in his grade
- Jack Vivian finished 87th in his grade
- Alex McDonald finished 92nd in her grade
Hartland Archery also won two of the three spirit awards this year that are awarded to the team that shows the most spirit at the event. Hartland archers and their devoted family and fans have won this award now four years in a row and this is the second time we have won two of the three they hand out
All in all another great year for Hartland Archery:
- World Champion (carry over from 2011 season) in Oct.
- Three State Championships – First ever sweep at all three levels
- National All American Team - single member qualifier
- TOP 10 finish at Nationals – 9th place
- Two Spirit Awards
