Hartland Swimmer Finishes 8th, Relay 12th in State Finals

BOYS SWIMMING AND DIVING — Hartland's James Strandbergh finished eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke during the state swim finals Saturday at Oakland University with a time of 1:00.22.

Saline's Mike Fisher won the event with a 56:18 to set a new Division 1 record.

Hartland's 200-yard medley relay team finished 12th overall and fourth in the B final race with a 1:39.58. Strandbergh, Andrew Roy, Trey Conner and Austin Condra swam for the Eagles. Saline's team won the event in 1:34.50.

Overall, Hartland finished 24th out of 40 with 21 points. Saline finished first with 384 points.

Friday

BOYS SWIMMING AND DIVING — Hartland's James Strandbergh and a relay team advanced to the finals of the state meet Saturday at Oakland University in Rochester.

Strandbergh, a junior, was sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 59.97 during preliminaries Friday. Mike Fisher of Saline was first with a 56.91.

Strandbergh also was a member of the 200-yard medley relay to move on with an 11th place finish in 1:39.47. Andrew Roy, Trey Conner and Austin Condra also are on the team. Saline was first in the relay with a 1:35.08.

The Eagles had eight swimmers qualify for the state meet. Swimmers needed to place in the top 16 to advance to the finals. Here's how the rest of the team did:
