Hartland ladies lacrosse suffers tough loss against East Grand Rapids, 17-8.

VARSITY
Monday night pitted the Hartland Eagles women’s lacrosse team against the unbeaten and number one ranked team in the state, East Grand Rapids. The game started fast for EGR and they took a 4-0 lead to start the game. Hartland continued to chip away at the lead until both teams went into the half tied 6-6.

The first half featured some gutsy play and hustle that allowed Hartland to come back and square it at six. They featured their pressure transition defense and they contested plays in the offensive area. Tabitha Ferguson stood strong in net and was able to keep Hartland in the game.
The second half produced some uncommon mistakes and sloppy play. Both teams traded goals and then EGR capitalized on unforced errors and turned it into a 12-8 lead about midway through the second half. EGR played tough defense and Hartland managed to scramble to try and regain possession of the ball.

At the end of the game, EGR had defeated Hartland 17-8. Ryan Skomial led Hartland with four goals. Haley Crouse, Courtney Lee, Natalie Sochaki, and Ashley Collins augmented the final tally by scoring one goal each. Amber Crouse had two assists and was honored as the Athlete of the Week prior to the game.
Hartland will travel to Waterford for a Wednesday night contest at 7pm.
JUNIOR VARSITY
The JV squad battled a good JV team in EGR on Monday night. They played a close game until the second half. EGR pulled away for the win with a 10-5 victory. Kristina Hollis led Hartland with three goals and an assist. Analiese Kulpanowski and Sara Wanko each scored a goal in the game.
