Viewfinder: Round Elementary Holds a 'Seussabration' to Honor Author

Hartland students and staff celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday every March 2.

There were many hats made famous by the cat. There also was plenty of green eggs and ham. And one student was even happy to bring a No 2. costume to become a Thing.

All was in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday as students, staff and teachers at Hartland’s Round Elementary School celebrated with schools across country.

This year, in what’s become an annual event, the teachers swapped rooms to read to the other groups of children they normally don't get to teach.

They also had some guest readers help, such as Chris Melby, a fifth-grader at Farms Intermediate School, who read to several different classes his favorite Dr. Seuss books. Michael McMahon, whose son Brendan is a kindergartner at Round, read The Cat in the Hat as the cat’s cousin.

He was dressed in black-and-white attire fitting of any cat wearing any hat.
