Work Skills Corporation Passes on Kendra Lane Property

A home located in Hartland Township was considered as a possible site for a group home for youths recovering from closed-headed brain injuries.

The Work Skills Corporation has chosen to pass on a buying property in Hartland that they were considering for purposes of a transitional group home.

Hartland Township Planning Director Dave Campbell said they received an email on Wednesday from the organization informing them of the decision that they were no longer pursuing the project.

Reasons for the decision weren’t provided, according to Campbell, but the email thanked the township for their “great communication and feedback” and also stated that the organization “still believes in this project and will continue looking for a great location to serve this population in need.”

Earlier this month, a letter was sent to neighbors of Kendra Lane informing them of the possibility of the Work Skills Corporation’s plans to buy the home located at 1324 Kendra Lane.

An informational meeting was scheduled with residents to introduce them to their organization and further explain their purpose of providing a home for children 16 and under who suffered from closed-headed brain injuries.
