Tree trimming contributed, police say (bnd.com) — A motorcyclist died after hitting a low-hanging power line on West David Highway in Ionia County’s Berlin Township, east of Saranac, following tree trimming work that left lines draped across the road. Ionia County deputies say the rider was thrown from the bike and later died at a Grand Rapids hospital, with multiple local fire and emergency crews assisting.
   

2. 2 critically injured after attempting to pass farm implement in Ionia County (thedailynews.cc) — Two people were critically injured in Keene Township when their Ford Fiesta tried to pass a turning farm implement in a no-passing zone at Feuerstein and Sparks roads. Ionia County deputies say both occupants had to be extricated and flown or taken to Grand Rapids, and the crash remains under investigation with several local fire and medical agencies involved.
   

3. Lyons man charged with arson of house, lying to police (thedailynews.cc) — An Ionia County man has been charged with second-degree arson after an unoccupied Lyons home was destroyed by fire, with local deputies alleging he also lied about his identity. Ionia County authorities, including the Sheriff’s Office and Department of Public Safety, are still seeking tips as the suspect remains jailed on a $30,000 bond ahead of an October court hearing.
