1. U.S. Supreme Court to Consider Michigan Marijuana DUI Case Challenging Lack of THC Impairment Limit (themarijuanaherald.com) — A 2024 crash in Jackson is now at the center of a U.S. Supreme Court petition challenging how marijuana-impaired driving is defined in the state. The driver, found with THC in his system but no clear signs of impairment, argues Michigan's lack of a numeric THC limit leaves motorists without fair notice of what's illegal.
2. Snyder, Hill Rewrite Dexter XC Record Books at Jackson Invitational (thesuntimesnews.com) — Ella Sharp Park in Jackson hosted the Jackson Invitational, where Dexter High School runners rewrote their program's record books. Senior Kodie Snyder set a new girls' school record and Coen Hill climbed into the boys' all-time top five, while numerous teammates posted personal and season bests against strong competition on the Jackson course.
3. State policy committee: 'We'll have each other's backs at the end of the day' (michfb.com) — Jackson County's Julie Alexander is helping shape Michigan Farm Bureau policy after six years in the state House, bringing local farm concerns into statewide discussions. She and other committee members are reviewing hundreds of recommendations that will guide Farm Bureau's stance on key agricultural issues, from farm viability to education and community involvement.
4. Ann Arbor SPARK Seeks Partners to Support Southeast Michigan Small Businesses (annarborusa.org) — Small business owners and support organizations in Jackson County are eligible for new assistance through an Ann Arbor SPARK initiative funded by the MEDC. SPARK is seeking a partner to provide navigation, workshops, and one-on-one guidance for entrepreneurs across southeast Michigan, with proposals due October 9 for a contract running through 2027.
