City of Sturgis to Host Fall Foam Recycling Drop-Off with Support from Dart Container

Event Details

Sturgis Municipal Compose Site, 27896 E Fawn River Rd, Sturgis, MI, 49091

Sturgis, MI – Oct. 7, 2026 - Sturgis-area residents are invited to bring clean foam to a free recycling drop-off on Saturday, Oct. 10, hosted by the City of Sturgis at its Compost Site on East Fawn River Road. The second of the city’s two 2026 collections, following the April 11 drop-off, gives residents a simple way to keep bulky foam cups, containers and packaging out of local landfills.

Dart Container, a leading provider of sustainable foodservice packaging solutions, is supporting the event by handling the collection and transportation of clean foam polystyrene materials. All collected foam will be processed at Dart’s Michigan facility and repurposed by manufacturers into products like picture frames, crown molding and other durable goods.

What: A free drop-off recycling event for clean polystyrene foam. Accepted materials include:

  • Foam cups and to-go containers
  • Egg cartons and rinsed meat trays

  • Foam must be clean; rinse food containers and meat trays before drop-off
