1. Punks With Lunch Lansing co-founder dismissed from nonprofit's lawsuit (lansingstatejournal.com) — A Lansing-based homelessness nonprofit has largely resolved its 2025 lawsuit, with two co-founders now dismissed and a former employee ordered to repay more than $18,000. Punks With Lunch Lansing publicly clarified that one co-founder wasn't involved in alleged financial mismanagement and highlighted its ongoing commitment to serving the Lansing community through outreach, food distribution, and advocacy.
2. Developer sues East Lansing over rejection for 10-story building (bnd.com) — A Minnesota developer is suing East Lansing after the city council rejected a $90 million, 10‑story mixed‑use project that would replace a downtown parking lot near MSU. The case, involving a Lansing-based attorney, challenges the council's site‑plan authority and could shape future student housing and parking options in the area.
3. Michigan colleges to offer admission through new matching program (wilx.com) — From Lansing, state officials are rolling out MI College Match, a new way for high school seniors to be considered for admission and scholarships at several Michigan colleges with a single profile instead of multiple applications. News 10 Lansing is also promoting its streaming app so Mid‑Michigan families can keep up with education updates and other local news.
4. MSU gets $30M grant for new turbulence research center (wlns.com) — Michigan State University, just next door to Lansing, has landed a $30 million National Science Foundation grant to launch a major turbulence research center. The new TEMPEST initiative will unite MSU scientists and engineers with national partners to better understand chaotic fluid flows, with potential benefits for aviation, energy, weather forecasting, and public health that could ripple across mid-Michigan.
5. Michigan House Democrats unveil package to increase primary care funding, recruit more doctors (wlns.com) — From the Capitol in Lansing House Democrats have rolled out an eight-bill package to boost primary care funding and tackle doctor and nurse shortages across the state. The plan would gradually double primary care investment, create a new oversight office, and expand tax credits and loan support for training future physicians, with some bipartisan interest emerging.
