While there are no public exposure sites identified yet, residents are urged to check their MMR vaccination status, watch closely for symptoms, and call ahead before visiting any clinic or ER if they feel ill.
2. Macomb County man bound over for trial for accosting a minor, prosecutors say (cbsnews.com) — A Macomb Township man has been bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court on charges including accosting children for immoral purposes and using a computer to commit a crime. Prosecutors say he was arrested after allegedly arranging to meet someone he believed was 15, and he’s scheduled for arraignment in circuit court on May 11.
3. Man charged with murder after double-fatal crash during Clinton Township police pursuit (cbsnews.com) — Macomb County residents are learning more about a deadly Clinton Township police pursuit in which a Sterling Heights man now faces upgraded second-degree murder charges after two young men were killed. Prosecutor Peter Lucido is also urging tougher state penalties for fleeing police, underscoring growing concern over high-speed chases in local communities.
4. Community college apprenticeships offer opportunities to ‘earn while you learn' (outliermedia.org) — Macomb Community College’s free MAP+ pre-apprenticeship program lets local students earn college credits while stepping directly into paid skilled-trades jobs. Working with more than 100 employers, Macomb and neighboring colleges offer “earn while you learn” apprenticeships and healthcare upskilling pathways that help residents secure higher wages and long-term careers without heavy student debt.
5. How metro Detroit law enforcement agencies are navigating rising gas prices (wxyz.com) — Law enforcement in Macomb County and nearby Wayne County are adjusting to rising gas prices while trying to maintain patrol coverage and emergency response. Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham says 50–60 patrol units must stay on the road, so the county leans on careful budgeting, while some agencies test electric and hybrid vehicles to control fuel costs.
