CHESTERFIELD, MI — Eminem's ex-wife could do jail time after pleading no contest to charges in connection with a hit-and-run crash, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.
Kimberley Anne Mathers, 51, of Chesterfield Township, was charged with operating while impaired and failure to stop after a collision.
Both charges are misdemeanors that are punishable by no more than 93 days in jail.
Mathers pleaded no contest to the charges, meaning she will be sentenced on a guilty plea, though she did not admit guilt. Her sentencing date is scheduled for June 17.
Mathers was driving a white Range Rover on Feb. 16 when she smashed into a Dodge Ram pickup truck, which was parked on a street in Chesterfield Township, according to prosecutors.
The truck was pushed roughly 50 feet from where it was parked, according to prosecutors.
There were no injuries in the crash, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors added Mathers was driving drunk at the time of the crash.
"Driving under the influence is not a lapse in judgment—it is a deliberate decision that puts every person on the road at risk. We see the consequences far too often: lives lost, families shattered, and communities changed forever. These tragedies are preventable," Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido said in a statement. "There is always another option — call a ride, designate a driver, make a plan."
