CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Mandarin students Leea Fellows and Alexa Peltier have both been awarded a full ride scholarship to study in China for six weeks this summer. The scholarships are funded by The National Security Language Initiative for Youth, a program started in 2006 to prepare young Americans to become leaders by engaging with people around the world. During the summer, the students will be staying with host families and will be participating in an immersion program with intensive in-class language instruction, cultural presentations and other activities.
"This is the opportunity of a lifetime for both girls," said Mandarin teacher Greg Henery. "I look forward to hearing all about their experience spending a summer in China."
The Mandarin program is taught at the Frederick V. Pankow Center which is located at 24600 F.V. Pankow Blvd. For more information, please contact Greg Henery at henergr@lc-ps.org.
