Driver Arrested With Vodka Bottles, Four Children in Truck on 27 Mile

The 48-year-old motorist was arraigned in 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

A 48-year-old Mount ClemensΒ man was arraigned in New BaltimoreΒ on drunken driving and child endangerment charges after he was stopped Sunday with three empty vodka bottles and four kids in his truck, police said Tuesday.Β 

Stephen Simone was chargedΒ Monday in 42-2 District Court with one count of operating while intoxicated with an occupant under 16 and operating with a high blood-alcohol level. Simone had a .29 percent blood-alcohol level--well over the state's legal limit of .08 for driving, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.Β 

A $5,000 cash/surety bond was set and he was released on tether restrictions, the Sheriff's Office states.Β Β 

Deputies pulled his Dodge DakotaΒ over on 27 MileΒ in New Haven around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, noting multiple equipment violations on the truck. They found the three empty vodka bottles on the floor with four children--agesΒ 15, 14, 11 and 8-- inside the Dakota. The children were turned over to their mother at the time of his arrest, deputies said.
