It's time for the Algonac Lions Club 2011 Pickerel Tournament in downtown Algonac, running through July 4. But it's much more than a fishing contest.
Today's lineup includes:
- 8 a.m.: Kayak Poker Paddle - DNR site
- Noon: Midway opens
- Noon-6 p.m.: Arts and crafts show, Riverfront Park
- Noon-6 p.m.: Bingo, Riverfront Park
- Noon-2 p.m.: Watermelon-eating contest, Main Stage, age groups: 4-7, 8-12, 13-16
- 5:45 p.m.: Awards handed out for daily fishing, grand whopper and boat raffle prizes
- 6 p.m.: Tournament ends
