Good Weather Means Games Galore

Baseball, softball and soccer highlight the week ahead for New Baltimore and Chesterfield prep sports fans.

Alas, three days of good weather in a row!

Perhaps the joke Mother Nature has been playing on us has finally come to an end.

In fact, we here in the Pick of the Week actually got a little too much sun this past week watching games.

Our tomato-red cheeks, necks and noses are a sure-fire sign that the games are back on track.

Of course, the massive amounts of rainouts have a positive effect on fans from this point—these teams have to make up games over the next few weeks.

That means there will be an extraordinary amount of baseball, softball, soccer, track, lacrosse, rugby and golf for prep-sports fanatics.

We’ve been working hard to make sure you have an idea of which games to catch and which ones to pass on this week.

So, let’s get right into the good stuff.

  • vs. Dakota softball, 4 p.m. Wednesday at Dakota High. The Tars are currently a pair of games back in the Macomb Area Conference Red and need as many division wins as they can get. Here’s their chance to get one.
  • Anchor Bay vs. Warren De La Salle baseball, 4 p.m. Thursday at De La Salle. The commute will be worth the trip. This is a showdown between two really good baseball teams. A victory over the Pilots would be a great confidence builder for Anchor Bay.
  • Anchor Bay vs. Fraser girls soccer, 6 p.m. Wednesday at Anchor Bay. Top teams in the MAC White square off. Simple as that. Anchor Bay leads the pack, but Fraser is just one game back in the loss column. This is a big game for both teams.
