Shovan Anchors Tars Soccer Team

Amanda Shovan puts the Anchor in Anchor Bay soccer.

Shovan and her defensive teammates have held opponents to just two goals in the last five games. In those matches, the Tars have outscored their attackers 14-2 and have gone 4-0-1.

"Amanda has helped anchor down our defense," Anchor Bay varsity coach Kevin Grammens said.  "She distributes the ball well and is tough to beat one-on-one.  Rarely will attackers get around her and if they do, Amanda is quick to recover. She reads the game well."

Shovan is a junior at the International Academy of Macomb and excels in the classroom as well as on the pitch. 

Shovan has two assists in the books this season.

"Her athleticism and speed make her one of the best defenders in the county," said Grammens.
