Whiz Kid: Alexis Stempien

Chesterfield Township resident Alexis Stempien is in the running for a National Merit Scholarship after posting one of the highest scores in the nation.

Whiz Kid: Alexis Stempien

Age:  17

Accomplishments: Chesterfield's own Alexis Stempien is in the running for a National Merit Scholarship. Out of 1.5 million students, she received one of the top scores in the nation on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

The L'Anse Creuse High School North junior is also a published author of The Changed and has her own website at www.alexiswrites.com

Key to Success: “Alexis is a wonderful ambassador for LCN and  her academic achievement has not happened by accident,” L'Anse Creuse High School North Principal Dave Jackson said. "She has an outstanding work ethic and has always placed her education high on her priority list. However, even more important is that Alexis is a young lady of impeccable character and she is truly a wonderful role model for our community. She is a young lady that has always conducted herself in a very positive manner.
