7th Annual Talent For The Title! Music & Dance Competition
Northville MI –– Spring forward and reach for the stars in the 7th annual music & dance performance competition: Talent for the Title hosted by Broughton Music & Art Center, and Starring “The Gallery.” Last year’s Talent for the Title event proved to be an exciting event as part of Northville’s downtown experience. This year’s Talent for the Title aims to exceed last year’s expectations and to wow the crowd with our local talent along with a return feature performance by last year’s Talent for the Title 2015 winner; Carly Bins. Applications are now available for vocalists, singer/songwriters, instrumentalists, solo, duo/trio, band, dance solo, duo, trio & group in both youth and adult categories. All interested competitors will need to submit an application (online registration is now available at talentforthetitle.com), and audition tape, by May 15, 2015. Judges will select finalists to compete in a series of public performances throughout the historic city of Northville and Kalamazoo. The final showcase will take place on the first Saturday of June (June 6, 2015) to help add excitement to summer happenings, located on Main Street in Downtown Northville (between Center Street and Griswold). Laurie Jarski of Broughton Music & Art Center, and Mary Starring of Starring The Gallery, will serve as the co-chairs of this event. This year also marks the first time that one of the preliminary rounds will be held in Kalamazoo, MI.
“This talent show is a wonderful opportunity for talented performers to further develop their performance skills.” Laurie Jarski states. “There is so much talent throughout the state of Michigan. Northville is home to a world-class music school, a 60-year old dance studio, a professional theater, a dinner theater and a children’s theater within one square mile. It’s only natural to bring extraordinary talent to a town dedicated to the performing arts.” Mary Starring adds, “Northville is being recognized throughout the state as a community of artists. The Talent For The Title event brings visitors from all over to our town to enjoy a unique afternoon and evening filled with wonderful musical and dance performances. This fantastic event is augmented by a supportive community that offers a heartwarming hometown atmosphere for our performers year after year.” On Thursday, May 21, 2015 and Friday, May 22, 2015 there will be exciting elimination rounds at BMC The Annex in Northville and at BMC The Lab in Kalamazoo, Saturday, May 31. The finalists will be narrowed down for a final performance showcase that promises to be as exciting and entertaining as any nationalized television program. Live in Northville on June 6, 2015, a host of prominent judges will be on hand the crown to winners. The most exciting element to the evening will be the opportunity for audience members to participate in selecting the junior and senior Talent for the Title! The title brings with them: a cash prize, photo shoot, performance opportunities and an artisan designed trophy. The total winnings for the overall winner are valued over $2000.00. Also, this year will mark the third year that a cash award will be awarded to the 2nd & 3rd place overall winners. The top performers will be invited to perform a set at The Annual BMAC Invitational & Faculty Showcase; at BMC The Annex as featured guest artists, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Northville’s Town Square.
