Affectionate Shepherd, Beagle Mix Needs a Home

Chelsea is living in a kennel and needs a foster or permanent home.

Chelsea is a shepherd and beagle mix, although the exact breeds are unknown. She’s about 2 years old and weighs 40 pounds. Chelsea, a stray picked up by a rural shelter, was taken in by Waggin’ Tails Dog Rescue when the shelter became full and couldn’t keep her any longer.

For now, Chelsea is staying at a kennel until room opens up at a foster home or she is adopted. Chelsea initially spent time at a Waggin’ Tails foster home so they could get to know her. I met Chelsea at a recent Waggin’ Tails adoption event and talked with volunteer Lori Dames, who regularly visits and takes care of Chelsea at the kennel.

“Chelsea is one of the most affectionate dogs I’ve ever seen,” said Dames. “She loves to cuddle and be petted.”

Chelsea is:

  • Good with older kids
  • Good with cats
  • House trained

She’s been spayed and is up to date with shots. Chelsea’s energy level is moderate and she needs basic obedience training, although she quickly learned a couple of commands. She doesn’t seem to care about having another dog to pal around with, but wants to be with people. According to Dames, Chelsea’s ideal home won’t have any other dogs so that Chelsea gets all the attention.
