Douglas B. Lyon

Age 47, of Novi, passed away peacefully July 9, 2011. He was born on May
11, 1964 in Livonia; son of Richard and Martha (Bloom) Lyon. Doug was a
1982 graduate of Northville High School. He was united in marriage to Lisa
L. Armstrong on June 25, 1988. Since graduating, Doug has been both the
men’s and women’s varsity soccer coach at NHS. In 2000 he began coaching
at the colligate level for Schoolcraft College women’s soccer team. For
over 23 years he carried on his family’s tradition working as an insurance
agent and owner of C. Harold Bloom Insurance Agency; working closely with
his brother Gordon. Doug was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Northville.
He was a very loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He enjoyed
golfing, curling, and vacationing at his cottage on St. Joseph Island,
Ontario, Canada. He is described by his family as generous, fun to be
with, and having a great sense of humor.

Doug is survived by his wife Lisa L. Lyon; his children, Nathaniel, Neysa,
and Maya; his parents, Richard and Martha Lyon; his brother, Gordon
(Christine) Lyon; his nephews, Robert and Alexander; and his niece Jessica.

The visitation will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 from 1-8pm with a
memorial service beginning at 7pm at Casterline Funeral Home 122 West
Dunlap, Northville. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the
Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Ste. 200, Manhattan
