Bites Nearby: Northville's Deadwood Bar & Grill

A rustic Northville bar and grill features wild game and yummy chocolate chip cookies.

As its name and decor implies, at 18739 Northville Rd. in Northville has a Western feel and a menu featuring wild game, black angus beef and plenty of barbeque. It is a unique and rustic setting with high backed wooden chairs and chandeliers made with animal antlers.

The restaurant is spacious and there is a full bar featuring premium margaritas and martinis, ice cold draft beer and an interesting wine list. There is also an outdoor terrace where you can order food or just have a drink. There is also a campfire for cooler evenings.

Even though the Deadwood is meant to mimic a comfortable hunting lodge and masculine atmosphere, it is also known for homemade cooked to order chocolate chip cookies. The cookies are free with your meal on Sunday and Monday but a recent visit on a busy day for lunch we received a complimentary plate of cookies to make up for what we were told was “slower than usual service.”  They were warm and buttery and definitely worth the wait.

The cookies followed a lunch that included a Caesar salad with salmon for $11.29. The salad was huge with plenty of tangy dressing and was served with at thick round piece of dark pumpernickel bread. My lunch companion opted for a half pound burger made with beef for $7.99. You can also get a burger made with buffalo meat for a dollar more. She said it tasted “juicy” as burgers are one of the more popular items served there.

There is a long list of appetizers available including the “wild thang” for $9.99 that comes with spicy venison sausage, rabbit ravioli, duck tenders and BBQ buffalo balls. There are several salads to choose from as well as soup and sandwiches. The wild game choices include the “road kill grill” which is a selection of roast venison, semi-boneless broiled quail and wild boar sausage with Michigan game gravy for $17.49. There are BBQ ribs for $18.99 for a full slab and Guinness BBQ chicken for $12.99. To see more of the menu click here: http://www.deadwoodbarandgrill.com/menu2.htm
