Pitchers dominated the night as the Northville Cubs 13U baseball team out-dueled the Oakland Reds for a 3-0 win Wednesday at Massey Field in Plymouth.
Aram Shahrigian and Jacob Moody teamed up for the shutout, allowing three scattered singles. Shahrigian got a rare start on the mound and pitched four strong innings. His fastball consistently found the strike zone and kept the Reds hitters off balance.
The Cubs managed only four hits of their own but they maximized them with three runs. With the game scoreless, the Cubs finally pushed two runs across in the third inning. Ryan Perkins started the inning with a double to right field. After Mike Conniff walked and Alex Gaft was hit by a pitch, Owen Marshall singled in a run.

The Cubs scored again in the third when Shahrigian opened the frame with a single and scored with aggressive base running. The Cubs did run themselves out of some scoring threats with base running mistakes, but their defense and pitching remained strong throughout the game.
The Cubs moved to 6-0-1 in KVBSA league play and 20-2-1 for the season. The Cubs are proudly sponsored by The Northville Sports Den and the Michigan Credit Union League.
