Northville's eight game home winning streak dating back to February of last
season came to an end at the hands of the Novi Wildcats 51-29.  Northville was a
perfect 7-0 at home this season.  The Mustangs held Novi in check during the
first quarter although losing the rebound battle.  It took a while for both
teams to get on the board but Kendra Brenner's two free throws got Northville
started.  A three pointer by Brittany Berehulka put the Mustangs up 5-2 but Novi
answered with a triple of their own on the next possession to tie things up at
5-5.  Northville would have the edge after one quarter though 9-6.  The 2nd
quarter was a different story as Novi got hot with Taylor Pavlika scoring 11 of
her game high 18 points in the quarter as she made 3-three pointers.  Novi used
that to go on a 17-2 run and break the game wide open.  Novi's hot shooting
continued into the 3rd quarter as they pulled away and never let the Mustangs
make a charge.  The Wildcats shot an impressive 48% for the game.  The win secures the division title for Novi who now has a three game lead on the 2nd place Mustangs with just two games left.

I thought we played well in the 1st quarter.  But we got hammered on the
boards and left them with too many chances.  Even though they didn't make much
in the 1st quarter it was just a matter of time before they started to when you
give them that many opportunities.  I still think we can play with them.  They
are not twenty points better than us.  We will play them again in three weeks in
the district semi-finals and I know our girls will be ready.  They've responded
before.  We're in a similar position as last year.  We lost to Canton twice
during the season but beat them in the district championship.

Northville 10-4 overall, 5-3 division travels to South Lyon Tuesday.
