Classical Bells Celebrate 40 Years of Ringing at Holiday Concert

Classical Bells, a performing handbell ensemble celebrating their 40th season of Ringing in Color, invites you to join them in Ringing in the Holiday, December 1, 2023, 7:30 p.m. at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Livonia. The concert also features special guests, City Lights Chorus, a premier male a cappella chorus recognized as among the top 10 male chorus’ in the nation for 2023.

Classical Bells concerts are known for their sensitive musical interpretation, technical skill, informal choreography, and a dash of humor, inviting audiences to experience handbells in a way they never have before. Led by Darlene Ebersole, the group performs on one of the largest collection of handbells in the country, playing over 200 handbells and choir chimes.

This group of seasoned musicians from throughout the Metro Detroit area have been based in Livonia at St. Matthew’s church since their inception. “We are always excited to offer a concert at our home base,” says Ebersole, Artistic Director since 1986. “We’ll be playing lots of holiday favorites on this program, and we’re thrilled to welcome the phenomenal City Lights Chorus to share the spotlight with us.” A free will offering will benefit the Redford Brightmoor Initiative, an organization offering a wide variety of community support programs.

Classical Bells has performed in concerts and festivals nationwide. The group has appeared as featured performers with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Michigan Opera Theater. Learn more at their website.
