Crime Report: Bail Bondsman Arrested, Mail Stolen

Bail bondsman arrested for allegedly possessing drug paraphernalia

A man reported to Northville Township Police on Feb. 8 at 10 p.m. that men wearing badges, and who allegedly said they were with the sheriff's department, came to his apartment wielding guns.

The man told police that the men said they had a warrant for a person he had never heard of, so he called police, according to police reports.

According to police reports: When township police arrived, they saw the men in question and stopped them. The men had guns that were properly registered. They identified themselves as bail bondsmen and said that they had hired a 17-year-old man to help them that day to knock on doors.

Officers patted them down and found on the 17-year-old a marijuana pipe and other drug paraphernalia, according to reports. The man was arrested but did not have marijuana on him that night, according to police reports.

Mail reported stolen from Swan Harbour apartment building

A woman on the 19000 block of Silver Springs Drive reported on Feb. 10 that she left her broken cell phone in an envelope outside, but near her mailbox to be sent off for repairs, according to township police reports.

Her relative found the envelope torn open, and the phone was allegedly stolen.

Arrested man accused of attempting to steal from a vehicle

Police reponded to a call that a suspicious man had been peeking into cars on Feb. 12 around 5:30 a.m. The man was alledgedly walking throughout a parking lot on the 18000 block of the Kings Mill Cooperative, according to township police reports.

The caller reported that the man tried opening doors and then went inside one car. The caller could not tell if the man took anything, according to reports.

When police arrived, they found new footprints in the fresh snow and tracked them to a residence that they were familiar with from previous visits, according to the report.

The owner was awake. The police officer observed that there were wet shoes by the door. He asked the owner about it and the owner said he and his friend were out a few hours earlier, according to the report.

Police took the shoes to where the prints were left in the parking lot. The officer determined that the tracks belonged to the man they had just questioned.

And after talking to the 911 caller, police determined which car the man was reportedly seen in and contacted the owner of the car. The car owner confirmed that someone had broken in and tampered with things inside but that nothing was stolen, according to reports.

The alleged would-be thief was charged with disorderly conduct.

GPS reported stolen

A woman reported on Feb. 16 someone had stolen a GPS unit from her SUV sometime the night before, according to township police reports. The woman, who lived on the 50000 block of Cressnut Court, said her vehicle door was unlocked and was parked in her driveway.

She told police that she was home all night and did not hear or see anything suspicious.
