Crime Report: Man Accused of Stealing Steaks from Northville Meijer

The following information was supplied by Northville Township's Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Wallet reported stolen

A 79-year-old Northville woman reported to township police that her wallet was stolen from her purse while shopping at on Dec. 19.

According to police reports, the woman noticed it was gone when she went to pay for her groceries. She told police she had used it earlier at other stores. Police are investigating and reviewing surveillance video from the store.

Man accused of stealing steaks

store security workers told police that they witnessed a man putting steaks into Meijer bags he brought into the store. According to township police reports, he walked out of the store on Dec. 22 carrying the steaks without paying.

When he was approached by store security, he was found with the steaks and brownie mix, according to the report.

He was given notice by the store that he is banned from all Meijer stores. The 40-year-old Livonia man was arrested on charges of retail fraud and is due to appear in the 35th District Court in January. He was released on a $300 bond.

Man runs away after being questioned about shoplifting

store security stopped a man on Dec. 22 who is accused of attempting to steal merchandise from several departments.

According to the police report: The man came into the store and began putting items in his cart, then met up with two women who also had carts of goods. The women put their items in his cart and he left the store. When he was confronted by store security outside he ran, leaving the cart behind. He was not caught but the items were recovered.

Vehicle break-in reported

A resident on the 16000 block of Dunswood Drive reported to police that his iPod was stolen from the center console of his vehicle. According to the report, he was unsure if the vehicle was locked while it was parked in his driveway on Dec. 21.

SUV owner reports vehicle scratches

A resident on the 16000 block of Carriage Way reported to township police that his vehicle had several scratches all over it on Dec. 20. He also told police that the SUV sustained similar damage in November.

Truck owner reports vandalism

A Farmington Hills man reported to police on Dec. 22 that someone had written an expletive on his truck using a wax pen. According to the police report, the man hit a car next to him with his door and the passenger confronted him about it.

The man went into the store and when he came out, he saw the expletive on the back of the truck in blue wax.

Woman arrested for trying to cash fraudulent check

Township police arrested a 21-year-old Taylor woman on Dec. 22 who attempted to cash a bad check at . The teller told police that the check looked odd and the bank called the company that supposedly issued it. The company said it was not their check, according to the report. The woman was arrested for fraud and was later released on a $300 bond.

Christmas package stolen

A woman on the 46000 block of Pickford Street reported to police that she returned home on Dec. 20 to find a note from the post office stating that a package had been left. According to the report, the woman said the package, containing Christmas goods, was not there.
